WG SeriesConventional Wagon Gears
Wagon gears with single or tandem rear axles, suitable for various applications.
Farm wagons tend to get abused. It’s not intentional; it’s just that somehow, you always want to haul ‘one more’ of whatever you’re hauling! That’s why it’s so important that hay wagons, gravity bins, forage boxes, and other implements are supported by the right wagon gears. Knowing the heavy loads they’ll need to handle, we designed our hay wagon running gears to include the features that really matter on the farm.
For starters, wagon gears need to be big enough and strong enough to handle the load put on them. Our conventional hay wagon running gears come standard with an 80” reach pole in the center, but they’re also available with a 120” reach pole for applications 20’ and up. Speaking of strength, reach poles on our sturdier models are manufactured with schedule 80 pipe to withstand even the heaviest loads. In fact, we have wagon gears rated up to 24,000 lbs. Our highest-capacity wagon gears feature tandem rear axles, with a ‘walking beam’ design to reduce wear and tear over potholes and uneven terrain. The pivot point of the ‘walking beam’ is placed 2” behind center to help the wagon enter ditches and holes more smoothly. (For an even smoother ride, check out our articulating wagon gear designs.)
Another important concern with hay wagon running gears is, “Do they track straight?” Nobody wants a loaded wagon weaving all over the road while it’s being towed. Farmco wagon gears are built with heavy-duty automotive-style steering mechanisms, with an adjustable steering rod. These wagon gears are designed to run ‘straight as an arrow’.
Standard Features
Every Farmco wagon gear is fabricated from heavy-gauge steel, fastened together with top-quality welds, and reinforced at key points to ensure years of use under tough conditions. Before it ships, each wagon gear is coated with a two-part polyurethane paint. Paint coatings are applied electrostatically to produce a consistent finish.
In addition, Farmco wagon gears come standard with:
Options
Farmco wagon gears are also available with several additional options, including:
A longer 120″ reach pole for 20′ or longer applications (standard 80″ pole shown). For a double-coupling pole design, check out our articulating farm wagon running gears.
